What are some of the benefits of a facelift?

Dr. Gill's face lift is a long lasting facial rejuvenation procedure that is most suitable for men and women who have facial laxity that cannot be corrected with non-surgical techniques alone.

This surgical procedure can help to:

  • Lift up sagging skin and tissues in the mid face
  • Rejuvenate the neck
  • Contour the jawline
  • Restore facial symmetry after muscle and fat loss
  • Reduce excess skin and fatty deposits around the jawline

Who are the best candidates for a facelift?

Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Kiran Gill's facelift is a completely patient-customized procedure and may be performed in conjunction with eyelid surgery or a brow lift. Facelift surgery can also be performed with a neck lift for even better results. In this case, the surgery would include lifting up the loose skin around the neck and repositioning tissue around the jawline to create a sculpted look.

You may be a good candidate for facelift surgery if you:

  • Are in good physical and emotional health
  • Free from major medical issues that might interfere with surgery
  • Are a non-smoker
  • Can stop taking certain medications for a few weeks before surgery
  • Have realistic expectations about the outcome of your procedure
  • Are prepared to go through the recovery process

What to expect from Recovery

Once your surgery is complete, Dr. Kiran will wrap a bandage around your face to minimize swelling and bruising. A drain will be placed to help reduce swelling and speed up healing. Each patient's recovery will be tailored to their needs. Patients will experience swelling during the healing process which is completely normal and expected. Patients can expect to see some of the results as soon as the bandage comes off. Full results can be expected after a full calendar year, once the body has recovered completely.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best age to get a facelift?

Facelift surgery is most often performed on clients between 40 and 60 years old, although some do undergo the procedure in their 30’s if they are especially prone to facial aging. You should opt for a facelift when the signs of aging (wrinkles, folds, creases, lines) become significant and when non-surgical procedures can no longer achieve the results you seek.

What is the best type of facelift for me?

Dr. Gill will perform an evaluation of your skin and facial structures during your private consultation in order to determine the best approach for correcting your age-related concerns. A traditional facelift addresses sagging in the cheeks and midface, and can help establish better definition in the jawline. A mini facelift is ideal for treating the lower face, and comes with reduced downtime and minor incisions.

What is the oldest age I can get a facelift?

While facelift surgery is usually reserved for people in their 40’s, 50’s and 60’s, it can be performed on older clients provided they are of sound mind and body, and they have no major medical issues. Overall health is more of a determining factor than age when it comes to assessing your candidacy.

Will I have scars after facelift surgery?

Scarring after any surgical procedure is inevitable, but thanks to Dr. Gill’s conservative techniques, incisions are generally well hidden within the hairline and the folds of the ears. Most female clients can use their hair to hide scarring. Those with short hair can consider temporarily growing out their hair until the scars have faded. We can recommend medical grade scar creams that can help reduce the appearance of your incisions, and we can also make recommendations for concealment cosmetics.

What are the risks and complications involved in facelift surgery?

Every surgical procedure comes with drawbacks, but most patients find the benefits of looking and feeling better outweigh these risks. Smoking is the top offender when it comes to complications, so it’s important to stop prior to surgery. Possible risks include anesthesia risks, hair loss at the incision sites, poor wound healing, and nerve damage.
